Operations Coordinator

type
Full-Time
location
Sydney, NSW
As an Operations Coordinator at Breaker, you'll own the logistical and administrative backbone of a fast-moving physical AI startup — managing calendars, travel, purchasing, and field test coordination so founders and technical leads stay focused on building. You'll work directly alongside leadership across Sydney and Austin operations, anticipating needs before being asked. This is an entry point into a growing operations function, with a clear path to owning something bigger.
Department:
Business Operations
Working hours:
Standard
Collaboration with:
Executive, Product & Engineering
TLDR
  • Own the operational backbone of a fast-moving physical AI startup - logistics, travel, purchasing, calendars - so senior leadership can focus on their highest leverage activities
  • Work directly alongside the founders and Chief of Staff across Sydney and Austin operations
  • No two days look the same - this role rewards people who thrive on context-switching and getting things done before being asked
  • Based in Sydney, in office - be the oil that keeps the team performing at their best on a daily basis
  • This role is a starting point; bring a secondary skill set (creative, commercial/legal, or similar) and grow into something bigger
About Us

The way humans use robots is broken.

Modern problems demand more robots than we have operators. Every drone, ground vehicle, and maritime system requires dedicated training, manual control, and constant oversight. One operator per robot. One pilot per mission.

Breaker's AI agent breaks this constraint.

Our technology turns any robot into a truly autonomous, self-organizing teammate. Operators command and query teams of robots through natural language conversations over the push-to-talk radios they already carry, no laptops, no controllers, no additional gear.

Instead of manually flying search patterns across three different screens, you say, "survey this area and flag anything unusual." The robot team figures out how to divide the task, coordinate their movements, and report back what matters.

We're fundamentally changing the operator-to-robot ratio. Small teams become force multipliers.

Our software deploys directly onboard each robot, enabling real-time, intent-driven control even in contested environments with limited bandwidth. We're solving problems most AI companies never touch: sub-second inference on edge hardware with strict latency, power, and connectivity constraints.

We're backed by some of the best investors globally and growing our team across Austin, Texas, and Sydney, Australia. We're a small team of experienced engineers moving fast on technology that will define how humans and machines work together for decades to come.

About The Role

Breaker is operating at a pace where the bottleneck isn't code - it's coordination. As our field programs expand and our commercial partnerships grow across Australia, the US, and now Europe, the team is generating a constant stream of logistical, operational, and administrative complexity. Someone needs to own that layer completely, so the people building and selling our technology can stay focused on what they do best.

This role sits at the operational core of the business. You'll work directly with our founders and technical leads to manage calendars, coordinate travel, run purchasing, and keep multiple concurrent engagements moving - from scheduling introductory calls with new partners to making sure the right equipment is on-site for a field test. Nothing gets dropped, nothing gets missed, and you don't wait to be asked.

What makes this more than an EA role is where it goes. We're building out our operations function from scratch, and this is the entry point. Depending on what you bring - a creative background, commercial and legal experience, a process improvement mindset - you'll carve out a lane within the business and grow into owning it. The person who takes this role won't be coordinating meetings in five years; they'll be running a function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support business development operations: track active partner engagements, prepare and distribute documentation, and coordinate introductions and follow-ups to keep deal momentum moving
  • Manage the operational tempo for senior leadership - proactively schedule, protect, and organise time across multiple simultaneous engagements, spanning various timezones, customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate travel, accommodation, and logistics for a team that moves frequently across Sydney, Austin, and field sites - before being asked
  • Manage purchasing operations: liaise with the engineering team on equipment requirements, execute procurement, coordinate supplier relationships, and ensure the right kit is in the right place
  • Coordinate field testing logistics - site bookings, vehicle and equipment readiness, insurance documentation, weather monitoring, and on-the-ground scheduling
  • Keep the Sydney office running: supplies, facilities, equipment, and the kind of ambient operational readiness that makes a team feel like it's in good hands
  • Build and maintain lightweight operational processes in Notion and across our tooling stack, improving how we track and execute recurring workflows
  • Take on ad hoc research, problem-solving, and coordination tasks as they arise - and they will arise often
About You
  • Demonstrably exceptional at juggling many things at once without dropping any of them
  • Proactive by default - you anticipate needs and act on them before being asked
  • Comfortable operating in an environment where priorities shift, scope is ambiguous, and initiative is rewarded
  • Prior experience in a startup or high-tempo operational environment
  • Confident in front of customers and external partners - you can represent Breaker appropriately in a meeting, on an email chain, or at an event
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Full driver's licence
  • Based in Sydney and available to work fully in-office
Preferred Skills
  • Background as an EA, office manager, chief of staff, or operations coordinator - especially if you're ready for more than that role offered
  • Creative or marketing experience: graphic design, content production, event planning, or brand
  • Commercial or legal background: paralegal training, contract administration, or legal studies - particularly if you've handled insurance, vendor agreements, or government documentation
  • Experience at a defence, deep tech, or hardware-adjacent organisation
  • Familiarity with tools like Notion, travel management platforms, or CRM systems
Why Join Us?

You'll be an owner, not a renter. We're at the stage where foundational decisions are still being made and entire systems need to be built from scratch. Your work won't be maintaining someone else's legacy - you'll be creating what comes next. The problems you solve and the systems you build will define how Breaker scales.

You'll work with people who've done this before. Our team has shipped production robotics systems, scaled infrastructure, and solved the kind of hard integration problems that only come up when software meets the physical world. You won't be the only person in the room who's debugged a sensor fusion pipeline or optimized inference on a Jetson.

You'll solve problems that don't exist anywhere else. Most companies are building incremental improvements on established technology. We're defining new categories - which means the work is harder, more ambiguous, and infinitely more interesting.

You'll work hard, together. We're in the office every day, grinding on hard problems alongside great people. We've built a workspace where the best work happens - access to hardware, quick decisions, real collaboration. We're flexible when life requires it, but we're looking for people who want to show up, get stuck in, and build something significant with a team they respect.

We're going global. Backed by globally recognised investors, we're growing teams across Sydney, Australia and Austin, Texas. If you want exposure to international expansion and the opportunity to help build across regions, that path exists here.

You'll own what you build. Generous equity packages mean when Breaker wins, you win.
